2 Exams Back to Back

I was at the keyboard all day yesterday, but I never got to blogging.  Today was my Texas Civ Pro and PR exam back to back.  Texas Civil Pro was from 8:00 to 11:00 and PR started at 1.  I have never had a stacked exam day until today.  I’ve actually heard of people having 3, but one is enough for me.  I’m thankful my PR was all multiple choice.  There were only 40 questions and I had worked through 7 questions word for word on a practice PMBR booklet and class packet.  In fact, the first 5 questions were all repeats.  I had sugar plums dancing in my head hoping the whole test would be a repeat of the same questions I had been practicing during my break.  Didn’t last but still, I’ll take 7/40 free.

Texas Civil Procedure started ominously.  My friend said it well, “He wasn’t asking the questions the way I wanted him to.” (paraphrase)  40 minutes into the exam I was struggling to fill blanks.  I was wondering if I was going to fail.  The test was 150 points.  3 essay – 30 points, 30 points, 50 points and 8 short answer – 40 points total.  I just kept plugging away and feel relieved in that I worked until the buzzer.  I have no idea what my grade will be.  I’m sure I left some stuff out.  I just hope it isn’t too much.  I don’t think I failed anymore, but it felt that way for a good while.  I was drawing blanks and I couldn’t remember the stuff I knew I had studied.

No sense in worrying about it now.  I’ll just hope I did good.  If I didn’t, I’ve still got two more tests and a chance to redeem myself.

Yesterday, I did get in a 30 minute run break.

Rationing Study Time

My exams are lumped together at the beginning and end of exam weeks (Dec 1 – Dec 13).  My first two are Texas Civil Procedure and Professional Responsibility.  The latter are Wills, Estates, and Trusts and Insurance Law.  I plan on concentrating 80% of my study time to the first two and then use the remaining time for a “break” with my later tests.  I’ll have a week after Professional Responsibility to work on studying for those.  Although 3 of the 4 are at 8:00am (as opposed to 1:00 pm), none are on the same day which is fortunate.  Also, I think this type of exam schedule is very favorable – perhaps only beaten by an evenly spaced interval schedule.
