Cornell Using Google Adsense

This is very surprising.  Yesterday I was searching for FRE 401 and came up with the Cornell Law web page on the Federal Rules of Evidence.  Apparently Cornell now uses Google Adsense to offset the costs of their website.  I’m not knocking it.  It’s always good to make money when you can, but this is very surprising for an institution of Cornell’s stature to use pay per click ads.

The implementation of the single banner ad does raise questions though.  Although not technically against the Google adsense policy of encouraging clicks, they certainly do create the suggestion you click on them.  Right above the ads, the pages read “Donations cover only 20% of our costs.”  Wow.  Definitely pushing the limits here.

Law Student Blogs Becoming More Popular

I’ve been searching on the web and the number of law student blogs has increased dramatically over the last year.  Pre-law students have the ability to view the life of a law student like never before.  Law School books can be somewhat helpful, but the informal setting of blogs give a more candid perspective on what law school is really like and the processes within in.  I think the Internet not only supremely organizes information, but will also organize us as to what we do in our lives.

I got to the gym very late today, but still managed to get a good weight lifting regimen in.  I didn’t record the specific sets or weights, but I worked biceps and back the whole time with little rest in between.  I normally like to record everything, but today I left myself such little time I just had to jump in and release my exercise log.

Facebook Scam

I know a large majority of law students have Facebook.  Be very leery of any foreign messages in your inbox.  Actually, just delete them.  Scammers have sent out a new worm seeking to steal your information (read: credit card numbers).  If you see something like “You look funny in the new movie” don’t click on it.  If you do click on it, don’t download the executable file.  This generally goes for all facets of your Internet use: email, websites, chat but especially right now on Facebook.
